			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The UW Oshkosh Business Success Center (BSC) is an innovative consulting firm uniting local and regional business with University resources, such as faculty experts, student interns, research facilities and its survey center. The BSC’s mission is to further the development of the university and the community by being a gateway for engaging university resources. Its vision is to provide solutions that drive the local economic development and grow the community. Recently the BSC conducted a Political and Consumer Poll to edify the New North region and to offer political science data for classroom discussion.</p>

This award was given to ChemDesign products as part of the Society of Chemical Manufacturers (SOCMA) and Affiliates annual Performance Improvement Awards</p>
<p>SOCMA has recognized ChemDesign Products for their continued improvement within the EHS&amp;S program reducing injuries, performing enhanced process hazard analysis and acting as a chemical/environmental resource for community agencies.</p>
<p>This award signifies the efforts of ChemDesign Product employees for making a difference in the community and industry. “We are honored to receive national recognition for our company’s commitment to performance excellence,” said David Mielke, company president. “In particular, we commend our employees for their hard work all year to maintain a superior EHS&amp;S program in our facility.”</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Earlier this week Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson and Outagamie County Airport Director Marty Lenns lauded the approval of the Saudi Arabia General Authority of Aviation to conduct maintenance and repairs at the airports Gulfstream facility. Gulfstream is a key tenant at the airport and will have more business directed its way do to the approval.</p>
<p>Lenns said that the Saudi approval will mean additional work and business opportunities will be directed to Gulfstream’s facility. Lenns is thrilled with this approval along with a series of big developments that have happened at Outagamie County Regional Airport recently. Other developments have included expanded passenger service from providers Delta and Allegiant Air and securing of a loan to retain Air Wisconsin’s corporate headquarters.</p>
<p>“Today’s news is not just great for our airport but the region in general,” Nelson said. “Gulfstream’s increased presence will bring new and existing customers to Outagamie County and economic development opportunities for businesses at the airport and around the region.”</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This year’s New North Summit will take place on December 7<sup>th</sup> at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Green Bay. We are expecting close to 1,000 business and organization leaders from around the New North at this year’s event. Attendees can expect to learn about various economic initiatives happening with in the region, will have plenty networking opportunities and will be able to have a “Taste of the New North.”</p>
<p>Rebecca Bagley, will be a keynote speaker at this year’s event and will discuss regional economic development and cluster strategies. Ms. Bagley leads a technology-based organization in Northeast Ohio and has a leadership role in the United States Department of Commerce.</p>
<p>A CEO panel of business leaders from around the New North will also discuss market driven clusters. This panel consists of Chuck Goddard, President/CEO of Marinette Marine Corp., Dave Lisle, President/CEO of  Wausaukee Composites and John Davis, President/CEO of Great Northern Corporation.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last Thursday an event to highlight the potential of clean energy in Wisconsin was held at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland.</p>
<p>The event was focused around how homeowners and businesses could benefit from having a clean energy future. The event included a campus renewable energy tour which was followed by a panel discussion with area educators and business leaders discussing the environmental benefits of investing in clean energy.</p>
<p>“Wisconsin has an opportunity to create thousands of jobs, clean up our air and catch up with other states and countries by modernizing our energy systems,” said Shahla Werner, chapter director of the Sierra Club in a press release issued by the organization.</p>
<p>John Jacobs a business representative for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers focused his presentation on job creation. “Clean energy creates jobs in Wisconsin all the way from raw materials to installs,” said Jacobs.</p>
<p>The event was sponsored by the Sierra Club of Wisconsin.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Three New North academic institutions have been ranked on the U.S. News &amp; World Report’s rankings of the best colleges and universities. The three schools that made the list were UW-Green Bay, Lawrence University and St. Norbert.</p>
<p>The University of Wisconsin Green Bay was ranked on the top tier of the report’s Best Regional Universities in the Midwest category.</p>
<p>St. Norbert’s ranked 127 on the list of Best Liberal Arts Colleges in American up from 14 spots the previous year.</p>
<p>Lawrence University in Appleton also place on the list of Best Liberal Arts Colleges in America at 60. The school has always had strong rankings and has consistently shown up on Forbes list as one of America’s Top Colleges.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity needs your help and is seeking skilled volunteers to help in home construction this year. Duties of these volunteers will include working with and mentoring others during construction.</p>
<p>Habitat for Humanity director, Jeff Johnson says it has been a tough year trying to find skilled crew leaders do to the agency’s increasing number of homes being built.</p>
<p>Crew leaders do not have to expert homebuilders but it is helpful to have some skill or knowledge pertaining construction. Training programs are being offered by Habitat for Humanity for potential volunteers.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This Saturday, August 13<sup>th</sup> the History Channel’s “Modern Marvels” will be filming on Fond du Lac’s Miracle Mile.</p>
<p>The filming will take place at Ma and Pa’s at 506 S. Main St. between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.</p>
<p>Owner of Ma and Pa’s Mitch Miles said he was contacted two weeks ago by representatives of the show to appear on an episode about the convenience store industry. Ma and Pa’s has always had a great reputation in the gas station business seeing how the store has sold a series of winning lottery tickets worth hundreds of millions since 1994.</p>
<p>Ma and Pa’s will be open for business on Saturday as usual with a couple of other special features for the filming such as a brat fry and an appearance by the Klement’s sausages</p>
